Getting stuck

Getting stuck

I so wish that lessons could all be learned without hardship. Sadly, that machine has yet to be invented. We suffer in our own way throughout our lives. Sometimes, such suffering is brought on by trauma (i.e. abuse, accident, major loss) and sometimes it is triggered by life’s seemingly inevitable drama. Either way, we can find ourselves in a spot where it is seemingly impossible to move forward.

Welcome to quicksand…

Many people ask themselves:”Why me?” I am not sure if there ever is a good answer, because some hardship is truly difficult to bare and even more difficult to justify. All I know is that we can grow. I believe that our human spirit can be found at debts even beyond despair. When you think about all that people go through and survive all around the world, it should be clear evidence that we have something inside of us that can help us overcome. So maybe the question is:”Why do we then get stuck?”

Sometimes, we are faced with what seems like insurmountable obstacles and have to somehow overcome our fear of being overwhelmed by taking the first and often hardest step toward the top. But we get scared that it will be too tough. We get scared of the amount of pain we think we will have to endure. We gar scared of not being able to be successful. We get scared of what others may think of us. We get scared…

I keep hearing people say:”It’s better the devil you know that the devil you don’t know!” What about the “angel” you don’t know? By avoiding what we think is worse that what we are already going through, we dig in deeper in the quicksand and make a conscious decision not to move. Actually, what we are doing is telling ourselves that we do not deserve to be happier for the REST OF OUR LIVES! That is a very long time to be unhappy for.

Dare to think about what the POSITIVE possibilities and outcomes are, when you decide to move forward. There is never a guarantee that things will work out for the worst. Fear does not want you to think about that, because it would stop you from giving fear power. Imagine that: if you decide to control how much power fear has over you, you would never be stuck again. Here is what that really means:

You decide to give yourself every opportunity to have positive experiences DESPITE & BECAUSE of the risk of pain.

That is a powerful decision that hands you a rope whenever you feel stuck in quicksand. Hardship is no reason to settle for less for the rest of your life. Every breath of yours is a gift. Every moment is an opportunity to rise above and enjoy yourself. Know that you are never alone, no matter what fear tries to lie to you about!

Think beyond surviving and decide to LIVE!
