with Geoff J. Ayi-Bonte
“we are building & promoting community, self-care & health”
Event: Teacher-focused Workshop & Health Fair
Theme: Promoting Student Health in Education
Date: May 10th, 2013 (all day event)
Location: Churchill Secondary School (7055 Heather Street, Vancouver)
I have been asked to give the keynote address that will focus on empowering teachers with increased skills and awareness to better manage the day-to-day challenges of the job with students and within the schools as a whole.
We will look at topics such as:
– frustrations with “doing more with less”,
– how to keep up with rapid changes,
– maintaining hope and passion,
– increasing mindfulness,
– decreasing stress and burnout and much more.
We are going to have a lot of fun that day. It is important to me that the audience walks away empowered, inspired and with tools that can be immediately applied to improve things.
The conference, in general, is geared toward looking at students’ health from various perspectives. It will stress the importance of community regarding the various departments, agencies and people who have the same goals and missions. It will focus on increasing the frequency of conversations between people to increase the ability to work together in a more collaborative manner. End of the day, having an ally is always an asset. I can’t wait!!!
It’s about and for the kids as well as about and
for those who support the kids with passion and care.
TEACHERS MATTER!!!
